Interested in participating in a cross-cultural archaeology excavation?

The archaeology minor gives a practical career application to your love of history. From excavating sites to handling artifacts, you’ll gain a foundational understanding of the field.

At Grace, we believe that studying history has a special significance for us as Christians. A large part of how God has chosen to reveal Himself is historical narrative. Our study of past civilizations is a study of humanity bearing God’s image. Engaging in history calls us to love our neighbors, even those separated by time, and to set aside our presuppositions in humility.

As an archaeology minor, you’ll take foundational history courses as well as major-specific classes. Your archaeology courses will instruct you in ancient history, historical exhibits, and artifacts. You’ll also take an elective course in either biblical history or Middle Eastern politics.

We understand it’s one thing to learn digging techniques in a classroom. It’s quite another to try them out yourself. That’s why you’ll participate in an archaeological dig overseas. You might just be the one to discover ancient ruins or priceless artifacts!

You’ll also benefit from our very own on-campus Winona History Center, which offers exhibits on Winona Lake’s historical heritage, from local Gospel musicians and evangelists to historical people groups.

When you graduate with an archaeology minor, you’ll be equipped with a working knowledge of history and experience in the field. Whether you travel overseas or impact your local community, you’ll understand just what it means to bring history to life.
