As a music production major at ������, you will dive into live sound, video editing, recording, and everything else that happens behind the scenes in a worship setting.

Our worship arts centers on Christ and His Word’s command to “sing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs” (Col. 3:16) to God and one another. Music contains an edifying, teaching element that you’ll learn to use to , encourage, and exhort the Church body.

As a music production major, you’ll explore how Scripture and Church history have treated worship. Your courses will also teach practical worship leadership skills, such as choosing songs and holding auditions and rehearsals. 

You may not be planning to take the stage, but a music production career still involves working with musicians. That’s why you’ll also engage in music theory and application, spending four semesters taking private lessons in voice, piano, guitar, or percussion, in addition to weekly meetings where you’ll document your progress with other students.

Aside from your core classes, you’ll dive into specialized courses based on your emphasis. A worship leadership emphasis will prepare you to work as a church worship director, providing songwriting and instrumentation courses. An emphasis in visual arts and design will equip you with artistic and design skills in addition to worship leadership. With a theatre arts emphasis, you’ll combine your musical gifts with theater production skills.

The fourth emphasis option is an opportunity through the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities (CCCU) to travel to Nashville, Tennessee, for a semester to work with industry professionals in crafts such as songwriting and music recording.

You’ll also complete an internship with a local church, a summer camp, or any organization that requires help with worship and production for your music production major.

By the time you graduate, you’ll be prepared to employ media and technologies in developing and producing music and worship experiences. Some of those skills include:

• Multitrack recording, overdubbing, editing, and mixing both live ensemble and electronically produced sources
• Recording music for use on podcasts and multimedia
• Using individual artistic expression as a form of worship
• Conceiving, organizing, and recording musical performances in the studio, as well as creating video content and producing lighting environments
• Employing media and technologies in developing and producing music and worship experiences.

Music production majors at ������have progressed on to work as worship leaders and technicians in local churches, as well as worship chaplains at Christian universities.

Aside from your core classes, you’ll dive into specialized courses based on your emphasis.  Nashville Contemporary Music Center (CMC) Concentration: The CMC Nashville prepares college-aged students for careers in the live events industry, challenging them to live out their faith as Christ-followers. Choose from one of four tracks (Artist, Business, Worship Creative Arts or Technical) and experience an education that is practical, real-world and led by working professionals. This opportunity is through the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities (CCCU) you travel to Nashville, Tennessee, for a semester, where you’ll work with industry professionals in crafts such as songwriting and music recording.
