Update 6/19: Missing woman found shot to death on road in Oak Cliff

A body found Tuesday along the side of a small deserted road in southern Oak Cliff is that of 20-year-old La-Trese Daniels, who had been missing since late last month, Dallas police say.

La-Trese Daniels, 20, is described as 5–foot-2-inches tall and weighing about 180 pounds, and she was last seen wearing a jean skirt and a white shirt.

According to Lt. Craig Miller, Daniels went missing from 8662 Willoughby Blvd., apartment 174, under suspicious circumstances.

Anyone who knows anything about this case is asked to call the Dallas Police Department's homicide unit at 214-671-3661.

PHILADELPHIA - May 27, 2009 (WPVI) -- Action News has learned that missing mom Bonnie Sweeten, and her young daughter, have been taken into custody in Orlando, Florida.

This development came just hours after sources told Action News that video surveillance at Philadelphia International Airport captured Sweeten, 38, and her daughter, Julia Rakoczy, 9, boarding a plane on Tuesday afternoon.

Those sources say the flight left at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday and was heading to Orlando, Florida.

PHILADELPHIA - May 26, 2009 (WPVI) -- Police are searching for a woman and her young daughter after a bizarre carjacking Tuesday afternoon.

It all began in Upper Southampton, Pa. when police were called out for a report of an accident at the intersection of Street Road and Central Avenue shortly before 2:00 p.m. Tuesday.

The crash involved a black Cadillac and a bluish-silver 2005 GMC Yukon Denali.

An FBI spokesperson says after the crash the two men in the Cadillac grabbed the driver, Bonnie Sweeten, of Feasterville, Pa., and her 9-year-old daughter, Julia Rakoczy, and put them in the trunk of the car and drove away from the scene.

An Amber Alert has been issued by the Monroe County Sheriff's Department after the girl was reported missing around 8:15 Sunday night from the parking lot of the apartment complex where the girl lives

Police are looking for Neviah Amyah Buchanan, reported missing from 1166 North Macomb Street in Monroe.  Police found her bike near where the child was last seen. The little girl was wearing a red, white and blue-striped shirt, and knee-length blue jeans.

Police believe she's been abducted and is in extreme danger.
Anyone with information is asked to call 911 or the Monroe County Sheriff's Department at 734-243-7070.

As Peterson, a former police sergeant, sits in jail on charges he murdered his third wife, Kathleen Savio, investigators in Will County, Ill. -- about 20 miles from Peterson's home in Bollingbrook -- are working to identify remains found on the banks of the Des Plaines River.

But Stacy Peterson wasn't the only local woman who disappeared in 2007. Some say the body could be that of Lisa Stebic, a mother from nearby Plainfield, Ill., who disappeared in April 2007.

"My honest feeling is hope the body is ID'd if it was Lisa or Stacy," Stebic's cousin Melanie Greenburg said. "I hope one of our families gets closure from this."

But the fact that the decomposing body was found less than a mile from a blue barrel could be significant, as Peterson's stepbrother told "Good Morning America" in March that he helped Peterson move a heavy blue barrel from the Petersons' home into their SUV shortly after Stacy Peterson disappeared.

If we could provide two pieces of advice, the family (both sides) need to come together for the sake of finding Haleigh. Anything that existed before 2/10/09 can be fixed and battled about after Haleigh is home. Second, get a spokesperson for the family and put out a consistent message then go look for Haleigh, lead the flyer distribution, lead the search do whatever it takes to get Haleigh home. The media is tearing the inconsistencies apart. Ron and Crystal need to be Haleigh’s voice even if through a spokesperson. They need to unite for the sake of Haleigh. The seperate vigils are petty and the division is causing the focus to fall off the search.

Haleigh’s father 24 year old Ron Cummings, and his girlfriend 17 year old Misty Croslin have had multiple interviews with police and the FBI. The 911 calls have been released as well. Maria Fernandez, Remains ID'd As Missing Nurse

Maria Fernandez, 31 remains were found last Wednesday and today were identified. Maria had been missing since Sept 3rd. Her case is now being treated as a homicide.

Remains found in a wooded area of Union County last week are those of a missing nurse whose death has now been classified as homicide, Sheriff David Taylor said Monday afternoon.

Taylor said that forensic dentistry has determined the remains to be Artetha Maria Fernandez, 31, who had been missing since September.

Further testing will be performed to help determine the cause of Fernandez's death, Taylor said, but the death has been ruled a homicide.

Maria Fernandez, 31 is still missing almost 4 months later

We first put up a post about Maria in September, she is still missing. At this point the family feels they are the only ones still focused on Maria’s disappearance.

UNION, S.C. -- Nearly four months after her daughter disappeared in Union County, Susie Fernandez tries to glimpse every face in passing cars and glance at people in aisles and checkout lines.

She said she hopes she'll see something or someone who will lead her to her daughter.

Maria Fernandez, 31, a nurse and mother of a little boy, vanished in September. Susie Fernandez said that she fears her daughter is dead, but that not knowing her fate is worse.

Fernandez said she believes she knows who is responsible for her daughter's disappearance, but she doesn't feel anybody outside her family is paying attention to the case anymore.

Investigators said that Maria Fernandez's boyfriend, Jamel Good, is a "person of interest" in the disappearance and that he is not cooperating with investigators.

DNA Confirms Bones Belong To Caylee Anthony

 

6 months and 4 days after she was seen on a father’s day video, the remains of Caylee Marie Anthony have been identified. Cause of death is homicide by undetermined means. Casey Anthony is currently incarcerated and is awaiting a March trial for the murder of Caylee.

Dr. Jan C. Garavaglia, the medical examiner, said at a news conference that the identification was made through a DNA match at the FBI lab in Virginia. The match was between a bone found at the east Orange County site and a sample from Caylee, she said.

Garavaglia said the death was by homicide, but she is not able yet to say how the child was killed. She also said the bones did not show any trauma caused before death and said toxicology reports might not provide a full answer as to cause.

Laura Garza, 25 Missing in NY 12/3/08

The search for Laura Garza goes on, with a person of interest in custody. The outcome of this case does not appear like it will have a happy ending.

The search continues for the missing Laura Garza, 25 years old, who was declared missing after leaving Marquee, a nightclub on 10th Avenue in Chelsea. The surveillance cameras from the night club show the young woman leaving the location with Michael Mele, a registered sex offender, who is now a prime suspect in the case of Laura Garza.
Police have found on Saturday a machete and a woman’s shoe near the house of the suspect. Police officers have also noted that Mele had had bite marks on his hands and scratch marks on his neck and that his condo seemed to have been cleaned with bleach and vacuumed obsessively.
According to his neighbors, Michael Mele acted weirdly all week, searching through the dumpster the police eventually found the woman shoe. Last time Laura Garza was seen was with Mele and one of his friends, leaving the trendy nightclub, on Wednesday at 4 a.m. in the morning.

My Canadian daughter JESSICA EDITH LOUISE FOSTER, Jessie Foster, has been missing from her home at 1009 Cornerstone Place, North Las Vegas, NV (where she had been living for 10 months) since March 29, 2006. I believe she is a victim of a human trafficking ring.

Jessie's story was mentioned on America's Most Wanted on November 15, 2008 - but the topic was that of a serial killers in Las Vegas. But Jessie could not have been the victim of a serial killer as she went missing from her home, during the day, and all her belongings except her hairdryer and her makeup went missing with her. If she had of left, the hairdryer and makeup would have been gone and if she was killed by a serial killer picking up girls on the Strip in Las Vegas, how did her belongings go missing too?
