As an exercise science major, you’ll take courses such as Fitness Assessment & Exercise Prescription, Exercise Physiology, Biomechanics, Strength and Conditioning, and Kinesiology. For your concentration in pre-physical therapy, you’ll take the prerequisite classes that will prepare you for physical therapy school. These will include Advanced Anatomy and Physiology I & II, College Physics I & II, General Chemistry I & II,  and General Biology I & II. 

As a Christian College with Physical Therapy programs, your classes in pre-physical therapy will be built upon the premise that God created the human body for movement and activity. As you learn more about exercise science, you’ll discover how to care for the body Christ has given us to honor.

Your concentration in pre-physical therapy will prepare you for PT school through first-hand knowledge and experiential learning. Through hands-on labs, training in research, and working at an internship, you’ll develop invaluable skills that will prepare you for your future career. 

Our students attend a variety of graduate schools for PT. For example, some of our alumni have attended the University of Evansville, Grand Valley State University, and Trine University. If you’re interested in furthering your education, consider applying to some of these grad programs.

As a student at ������, you will be provided with an academic advisor who will guide you through your classes and provide recommendations for your career path. Michelle Martin, a Physical Therapist teaching in the Science Department, provides mentorship and advising to aspiring PTs.

As an exercise science major with a focus in pre-physical therapy, you’ll be required to complete an internship that will provide you with first-hand experiences in the field. Students like you can find positions at the local PT clinics, Kosciusko Lutheran Hospital (LKH), or at Optimum Performance Sports (OPS). You could also work at the Center for Movement and Wellbeing, which supports the health, well-being, and movement of the Kosciusko County community. 

Our students have around a 90-95% success rate for being accepted into DPT programs. While graduate school is competitive, the students who pursue extracurriculars and maintain their GPA do well at selecting DPT programs.

While we do not have any clubs that cater specifically to rehabilitation and therapy, we do offer a variety of clubs that meet your love for exercise science. If you’re passionate about promoting health or working your body, explore our Health Science and ������Powerlifting clubs.
