Museum Studies Minor

  • On-Campus

If you love studying history and are looking for a practical career application, the museum studies minor is for you. You鈥檒l learn to bring history to life for your community, educating them on the issues that shape not only the past but the present.

At Grace, we believe that studying history has a special significance for us as Christians. A large part of how God has chosen to reveal Himself is historical narrative. Our study of past civilizations is a study of humanity bearing God鈥檚 image. Engaging in history calls us to love our neighbors, even those separated by time, and to set aside our presuppositions in humility.

You鈥檒l participate in multifaceted courses full of lectures, discussions, and hands-on projects and activities. Your classes will equip you in museum work, such as learning the basics of leading historical tours, creating exhibits, preserving artifacts, and digitizing documents.聽

Outside of the classroom, you鈥檒l benefit from our very own on-campus Winona History Center, which offers exhibits on Winona Lake鈥檚 historical heritage, from local Gospel musicians and evangelists to historical people groups.

You鈥檒l also undergo an internship experience as a museum studies minor. Students have interned at the Winona History Center, the archives, museums, historical societies, archival facilities, and libraries.

When you graduate with a museum studies minor, you鈥檒l be prepared with a broad base of historical knowledge, professional career skills in museum work, and the competence to pursue graduate studies and academic careers.

Museum Studies is great for those who are:
  • Attracted to Other Times and Places
  • Interested in Helping Others Learn
  • Drawn to Research
  • Fascinated by Human Civilization and Diversity
