You can’t move forward without knowing where you’re starting. The same is true for fitness; you have to understand your starting point to make progress. Without that awareness, it’s nearly impossible to set meaningful goals that will really support your fitness needs.
This is why we assess. Physical fitness assessments give us a clear picture of the client’s health and fitness level. They provide objective information, identify areas to improve, and help prevent injuries by catching potential issues early. The ability to predict if individuals are at a higher risk for injury is equally as important as the ability to treat injuries after they happen; assessment gives us this power.
Assessments lay the foundation for progress. Once we’ve established where the client is at, we can design a program that is tailored to the client’s specific needs and goals–and track progress using objective data.
