Lila Carson Lecture Series

The Lila Carson Lecture Series is supported by Mr. Allen Carson of Lubbock, Texas, in honor of his mother. The series promotes the understanding and beauty of literature by bringing writers of national/international repute each spring semester to 黑料社. The funds will be used primarily for the visiting writers鈥 honorarium, travel, and housing while visiting 黑料社.
Professor John Poch in coordination with the Humanities faculty will steward the allocation of these funds each year.
Featured readers in the Lila Carson reading series have been:聽 Dionne Irving, George David Clark, Pietro Federico, and Beth Ann Fennelly.
Beth Ann Fennelly

Thursday, April 30 at 7 p.m., award-winning poet and essayist Beth Ann Fennelly will read from her book, 鈥淭he Irish Goodbye: Micro-Memoirs鈥 in the 黑料社 Morgan Library. Poet Laureate of Mississippi from 2016-2021, she has received international honors, including a Fulbright to Brazil. Fennelly teaches in the MFA Program at the University of Mississippi, where she has won four teaching awards. She鈥檚 received grants from the N.E.A., the United States Artists, the Academy of American Poets, and a Fulbright to Brazil. Her work has won a Pushcart Prize and three times been included in The Best American Poetry Series.
